Thanksgiving Trip

Okay, so most of you know that we went to visit my parents in TN last Christmas, and we said we would not be making such a long trip with Button for a LONG time as she screamed most of the trip. However...
Techie suddenly got the week of Thanksgiving off from work and it had been such a long time since we were able to see my parents that we decided to try again. Wow! What a difference 11 months make!! The trip only took 15 hours to get there (due to stopping for meals and construction) and 13 to get home (less stopping for meals). And what a GREAT little trooper Button was! She only got upset a couple of times and was easily calmed down - much better than last time.
The kiddos had so much fun with their Grandy and Papaw!! They loved visiting the train, the train museum and the train store downtown. We also ate at a diner called Cream City that had a wonderful lunch menu and then we enjoyed some really wonderful coffee at The Intrepid Traveler, the coffee shop next door.
And one day we went to the children's museum that was really an activities center for them. One thing that was a really big hit for them was the little shopping, cooking, pick your own food area (all plastic of course) and they just loved it!!! There was even a phone that the kids could use to "call" to order a pizza (or whatever the kids came up with) and it rang to a pay phone on the other side of the wall. It was really cool!!!
There was also a playground and a dress up area - of course Squirt wanted to try on the Southern Belle dress... And there was another area with various things that bigger kids would like - optical illusion things, etc. But the last thing that was a big hit with my kiddos was the craft table and play-the-organ-with-the-flip-flops area. What fun!!!
Of course we ate too much on Thanksgiving day and are incredibly grateful for God's goodness and blessings for us. It was a super visit and I'm so glad that we were able to do it! : )
